"Rural tourism is a very important segment of tourism for us. In our county, we try to stimulate further development in various ways. We have great results in Konavle, which is almost exclusively the benefit of the Konavle people themselves, "said Prefect Nikola Dobroslavić.
Dobroslavić said that steps were taken to move the situation from Konavle to other areas in the County.
"I would like to mention how we work on thematic tourist roads. We organized one on Pelješac, the other in the Neretva Valley. A tourist in one place can find information that is offered in a particular area. With that we mean to continue. Our administrative department, in agreement with the Korčula tourist community, seeks the way in which, through specific lectures or organizing thematic tourist roads, we can stimulate the development of rural tourism also on the islands. We also worked on a major project of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County's traditional product through DUNEA. In terms of winemaking, besides the core strategy itself, we have been working on measures to improve this part of agriculture and tourism. And this year we will organize Dubrovnik FestiWine, the fourth year in a row. We are also working on a protected label of origin when it comes to honey in cooperation with other Dalmatian counties. We will probably have five to six certified honey from our area at the end of this multi-annual process, "said Dobroslavić.
